40 additional new jobs at M&S Monks Cross

Marks & Spencer will add 40 additional new jobs to its new Monks Cross store at Vangarde Shopping Park, which is set to open next month.

The existing Simply Food store at Monks Cross will now remain open alongside the new full line store, meaning that the Simply Food employees will stay at the store, opening up an additional 40 positions at the full line clothing, home and food store.

The Monks Cross Simply Food store was due to close on April 9, the day before the new superstore opens at Vangarde Shopping Park.

The change takes the total jobs at the new Monks Cross store to 240.

M&S Monks Cross store manager, Hilary Wilkinson, said:

“This is a welcome boost for M&S at Monks Cross.

“The two stores will complement each other and it means we are able to offer even more job opportunities to local people.”

The new 100,000 sq ft store at Vangarde Shopping Park will open on Thursday, April 10, and will be one of the biggest in the region.

The existing M&S General Merchandise store at the development will close as planned the day before.
