Marie and friends go the extra 100 miles for Halifax charities

An IT manager is swapping her high heels for trainers this month in a bid to raise funds for two local charities.

Marie Cavalier, IT manager at Halifax solicitors Wilkinson Woodward, is joining friends who will each run 100 miles within the month of June to raise vital funds for Overgate Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support Unit at Calderdale Royal Hospital.

Marie and her fellow runners are all mums from Barkisland.

Marie is clocking up the miles with regular runs in and around Barkisland before heading off to work at Wilkinson Woodward’s office on Fountain Street.

Marie said:

“We started jogging early most mornings as a way of keeping fit.

“All of us have friends and family who have been affected by cancer, so it seemed a natural progression to step up the training and go the extra mile for these two very worthy causes.”

The friends hope to raise a minimum of £500 to divide equally between the two charities.
