Retail units prove popular in Otley

Dacres Commercial has successfully let 3,500 square feet of retail space in four buildings in the market town of Otley.

One property let within a week of being launched to the market, and the firm is currently experiencing a renewed level of demand, predominantly from independent retailers.

“These deals have all taken place over the last few weeks – with 9 Bondgate letting within the first week of release – proving that Otley is regaining its popularity as a thriving market town.

“20 New Market has been let to a private individual who has opened a café and delicatessen and 66 Boroughgate has been let to a company trading as The Otley Tap House, where the occupier intends to open a family friendly bar. 

“Finally, Number 3 Mercury Row has been occupied by ‘Love 4 Bags’ who intend to trade handbags and ladies accessories from the property.

“Our latest lettings success demonstrates the town’s attractiveness to businesses, both large and small and this is likely to continue increasing as market conditions improve.

“The opening of our new flagship branch in Otley has also helped to reinforce Dacres’ commitment to the town and it is pleasing that clients are welcoming our proactive approach with a flurry of new instructions and lettings.”

Matthew Brear from Dacres Commercial said:

“During the economic downturn, retail property was hit particularly hard but confidence in Otley and the property market in general is on the up which is reflected by this latest raft of deals.”

Dacres Commercial has recently been instructed on 14 Boroughgate, which is located on one of Otley’s main thoroughfares, close to the High Street retailer Argos and Skipton Building Society.

Matthew added:

“On the market to let for £18,000 per annum, it comprises a larger than average retail property which has recently been attractively refurbished and would suit a wide range of retail occupiers.”

The firm is also marketing two office suites at Chevin Mill totalling almost 4,000 square feet.

Matthew said:

“These offices are part of a very successfully conversion and refurbishment of a former mill building.

“Both suites enjoy an excellent location close to Otley town centre but just 12 miles from Leeds and 10 miles from both Bradford and Harrogate.”
