“Droves” of great reviews wins Drovers Arms international recognition

Customers of a Selby country pub have helped it win international recognition from the world’s largest travel website.

The Drovers Arms, at Skipwith, has been named as one of the winners of the Trip Advisor Excellence Awards for 2014, which is given to just ten per cent of businesses across the world who consistently achieve outstanding reviews on its site.

In addition the mid-19th century inn – which was taken over earlier this year by Graham Usher and Martin Firth – has been included on the roll call of the Top 30 pubs in Yorkshire from Welcome to Yorkshire.

TripAdvisor CEO Stephen Kaufer has described the excellence awards as “giving businesses the recognition they deserve from the people who matter most, their customers”.

In the case of the Drovers Arms, customers’ comments for the unparalleled quality of food and service included “Just outstanding”, “Wonderful country pub”, “Glad we made another visit”.

Speaking of both awards, Mr Usher said:

“We are thrilled to have received both regional and international recognition for our food, beer and service.

“We can now rightly claim to be a member of a highly select group.

“We have a fabulous team at the Drovers, whenever possible we source our produce locally and work hard to deliver a premium service.

Mr Usher added:

“Even though we only took over the running of the pub at the end of last year, being named as one of the top 30 pubs in the whole of Yorkshire is a tremendous accolade.

“This award speaks for itself due to the sheer quantity of pubs in the region.”
