Horticultural units blossoming as Birley fulfils second order for Waitrose

Following on from the success of bespoke outdoor horticultural pods supplied in 2013, Birley Manufacturing is rolling out a second batch of the external plant units for supermarket chain Waitrose.

These units make up an exterior display area for a range of outdoor plants, shrubs and accessories known as the Waitrose Flower Garden.

The project forms part of a long standing relationship between Birley and Waitrose which has involved work in a variety of in-store departments including the Waitrose cafes, hospitality areas and fresh meat, fish, delicatessen and bakery back wall counters.

Birley has worked closely with Waitrose to ensure that all project requests have been implemented with immediate effect.

The Birley installation team works to a tight and efficient schedule meaning that each pod is installed within a day.

Waitrose can then fill the unit the following day allowing an installation to trading time of just 48 hours.

The pods have been supplied to branches located from North London to Scotland.

Birley project manager John McVeigh said:

“We have an excellent relationship with Waitrose and the success of this project is partly due to the effective communication channel we have with key decision makers.

“The scope of work Birley carries out for Waitrose continues to grow with a very high success rate, whatever the timeframe or intricacies of the project.

“We look forward to continuing to work with Waitrose in the years ahead.”

Waitrose’s project manager on this job, Jamie Charlesworth, said:

“We were delighted with the units supplied last year and decided to provide more of our branches with the pods during 2014.

“Working with a trusted supplier like Birley ensures that the project runs smoothly and that deadlines are met.”
