Outsourced IT management provider Vital Network Solutions has taken on a new apprentice within its technical services department.
Sam Wood joins the Knaresborough-based company, which was a finalist in this year’s Microsoft Apprentice of the Year Employer Awards, as an IT support apprentice.
The 17-year-old, who lives in Harrogate, will split his time between Vital’s Manse Lane office and specialist training college QA, in central Leeds.
At QA he will work towards gaining industry recognised qualifications from Microsoft and CompTIA.
Sam is a former pupil of Ashville College and Harrogate College.
Lee Evans, Vital Network Solutions’ managing director, said:
“Apprenticeships have been a great success here at Vital, both for us and for those employees who have come through the programme.
“We view them as the best route into a career in our industry, providing valuable experience and the industry professional qualifications that matter to us as an employer.”
“I’m really passionate about a career in IT and joining Vital Network Solutions means I’ll get real practical on the job training as well as academic qualifications which is something that I wouldn’t have had if I’d gone down the traditional route of university.”
