Additional city centre car parks for Leeds shoppers

More than 500 car parking spaces for shoppers and visitors to Leeds have been made available to drive footfall in the Eastgate area of the city centre.

The car parks, two short-stay facilities on Edward Street and Lady Lane and one long-stay car park on Templar Street, will be available to use from Monday and will offer a total of 528 car parking spaces.

In a bid to provide easy access to Leeds’ strong retail offering, specifically in the Eastgate area of the city, shoppers will be able to park just minutes away from the luxury Victoria Quarter arcades, Leeds Kirkgate Market and the surrounding shopping facilities.

Many of these spaces were previously reserved for permit-holders only, however both car parks will now provide a convenient parking solution to shoppers visiting Leeds city centre on a short and long-stay basis.

Prices start from £5.50 and the car parks will be open 24 hours a day.

Jonathan Gradel, asset manager for Hammerson said:

“City centre parking is an essential ingredient in aiding footfall to the Eastgate area of Leeds.

“We know that the public will benefit hugely from the opening of the additional car-parking facilities in these key locations and look forward to the positive impact that the new facilities will have on this area of the city.”
