The Academy reopens gym following £500,000 investment

Harrogate’s Academy Health Club has re-opened its fitness facilities following a £500,000 refurbishment completed in just 16 days.

The club, located on Oakdale Place, has brought a new, fully “interactive experience and functional training solution” to the town with its latest installation of Technogym’s ARTIS and OMNIA range.

Over the last 20 years, the club has positioned itself as one of the region’s leading health clubs and attracts members from as far away as Ilkley, Leeds, Wetherby, Boston Spa and Ripon, and its investment program aims to strengthen its standing at the top.

The new technology from Technogym’s ARTIS range comes equipped with UNITY, an interactive interface giving users the ability to create a personalised display of training programmes, data, web bookmarks, content and their social networks.

Philippa Shackleton, managing director for The Academy Health Club, said:

“We are proud to be the oldest, most established and most experienced club in Harrogate.

“As such we are always looking to improve our offering and this year we have really committed to strengthening and improving on our position as one of the region’s leading health and fitness clubs.

“We have a constant commitment to offer members the best experience from start to finish, whatever their choice of activity.

“This is why we have chosen to invest in Technogym’s ARTIS, which offers the most connected and well-rounded fitness experience today.”

Philippa added:

“We can safely say we are amongst the most up-to-date and technically advanced gyms in the country and now the newest in town.

“After a brief closure to install the new equipment and lay new flooring we are now fully reopen and looking forward to introducing our members to the new technology.

“I would like to thank Yorkshire Bank and its Commercial Relationship Manager Jeremy Bowers, plus all the contractors and staff teams who helped deliver this magnificent refurbishment in just 16 days.”
