Winners of Lloyds Bank Enterprise Awards North England final announced

One of Yorkshire’s brightest entrepreneurs is set to represent the North at the Lloyds Bank Enterprise Awards final on 15 October, after winning the Best Start-up category in Leeds yesterday.

Pure Pet Food, a Halifax-based developer of innovative dry pet foods, was named the winner of the award, which recognises a business which has been running for less than two years and has the potential to grow into a profitable business.

The enterprise was awarded the accolade because of its fantastic reception in what is an incredibly competitive market – achieving listings in over 100 pet specialist stores across the UK and growing at a rate of over three new stores per week.

Daniel Valdur Eha, joint founder of Pure Pet Food, said: “Winning the Best Start-up Award was a fantastic achievement and it’s a brilliant recognition of what we’ve done in the first 18 months of the business, and the growth that we’ve had so far.

“It will be brilliant to have first-hand experience and time with an experienced employee from Lloyds, who has seen businesses go from the start-up stage that we’re at now, right on through to multi-million pound businesses, and I think that experience will be invaluable.”

Speaking at the North England final of the Lloyds Bank Enterprise Awards, Leigh Taylor, area director SME Banking, in the North East and Yorkshire, Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, said: “The Enterprise Awards are a great indicator that the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in the UK today.

“Speaking with all of the shortlisted businesses at yesterday’s event I was impressed with the level of drive and determination that these young business owners have.”
