Following continued success, Sheffield-based Birley Manufacturing has appointed Kenneth Gray to the newly created post of manufacturing manager, as part of its growth plans for the company.
Birley Manufacturing works with some of the UK’s top retailers, such as Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, HSBC and other blue chip high street names and wanted to add to its expertise with a strategic appointment to further streamline its manufacturing output following recent sector and product developments.
Kenneth joined the company in August and his role is to effectively manage all the manufacturing processes at Birley ensuring products are manufactured on time, within cost and to the highest quality standards.
Ken, 41, who lives in Halifax, holds a Master of Administration Degree (MBA) gained at Huddersfield University and is well versed in Lean Manufacturing practices.
He has worked in the manufacturing industry for 25 years and started his working life by completing a four year apprenticeship at Frank Fords, manufacturers of aircraft components, gaining his NVQ Level 3 in Fabrication Engineering.
He has held team leader, production management and operations management roles during his career to date and his last role was as Operations Manager at one of the UK’s leading supplier of Rotomoulded products.
Other new appointments joining the manufacturing firm this month are Damien Rimmington, who comes on board in the capacity of CAD Engineer and Quantity Surveyor, Matthew Millington who will work as part of the Commercial team.
Ken said: “I am delighted to be joining Birley at this important phase in the company’s growth.
“Birley has a highly motivated, conscientious team and a brilliant track record, being highly regarded in its field. I am looking forward to helping the company on its journey forward.”
When not attending to all matters involved with manufacturing, Ken can be found at the football pitch; he holds the position of Chairman for junior football club Clifton Rangers and enjoys all aspects of the beautiful game.
