Responsible Business Awards: a chance for Yorkshire & Humber businesses to shine

The charity Business in the Community (BITC) is urging Yorkshire and Humber based companies to showcase their outstanding corporate social responsibility achievements by entering its annual Responsible Business Awards.

The UK’s longest-running and most robust corporate responsibility awards celebrate companies that are delivering positive impact on employees, young people, local communities and the environment.

The accolades are open to organisations of all sizes – from SMEs to multi-nationals and across all sectors.

Responsible businesses will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of the 21 small and large companies across Yorkshire and Humber that were recognised within the BITC responsible awards for the positive impact they are having within their businesses and their communities.

This year 14 categories will recognise the variety of ways that businesses are making a difference locally, nationally or internationally.

From investing in the wellbeing of employees, to helping young people develop skills, transforming rural economies and supporting disadvantaged people into employment – these awards are an opportunity to celebrate the very best of responsible business.

Liz Needleman, area director of BITC England East, said: “Business has a vital role to play in helping to create a fairer society and a more sustainable future for all.

“These awards publically celebrate those companies that understand this wider purpose and responsibility of business and demonstrate their commitment all year round.

“It’s vitally important to celebrate business at its best, because doing so encourages many of them to do more to make a difference. We urge companies of all sizes in Yorkshire to enter.”

The closing date for entries is 13 February 2015, and application forms can now be downloaded at

Companies interested in finding out more about the awards are invited to attend a free awards workshop in Bradford at Yorkshire Water – Esholt Environmental Visitors Centre on 19 November.
