Santa will be swapping his sleigh and reindeers for a zip-wire this year to kick-start Christmas at Magna Science Adventure Centre.
Santa will be performing his stunt inside Magna on Monday via a 75-feet-high and 250-feet-long zip-wire.
Donna Shaw, marketing co-ordinator at Magna, said: “Santa has arrived by zip-wire before and it proved to be a big success.
“Once he’s completed his daring stunt, he’ll be setting up in his magical grotto ready to welcome our young visitors this festive season.”
A Winter Wonderland event will take place at Magna on the following weekend, Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 November from 10am to 4pm.
Children will have the chance to visit Santa in his grotto during the weekend – and also every weekend in the run up to Christmas.
The annual Winter Wonderland event will include a Christmas fayre with seasonal stalls, entertainment from brass bands and pop-up science workshops.
New this year, there also be a UV puppet show suitable for all ages, with aliens, dancing robots, and a festive appearance from Santa.
Donna said: “The Winter Wonderland weekend will be great for kids and adults alike, with a range of activities which will be fun for all the family.
“We hope to make this year’s Winter Wonderland the best one yet. We’re really excited about the UV puppet show and it will be a great addition to an already great event.”
A Christmas carvery will be served on both the Saturday and Sunday from noon-2pm too.
As part of the celebratory weekend, Magna is offering free entry to the Adventure Centre and to Sci-Tek outdoor play area all weekend.
This includes a children’s Christmas trail, steel guided tours and forge demos.
