Anne Wainwright franchisee of four McDonald’s restaurants across Yorkshire has recently returned from a marathon cycle ride from Bariloche in Argentina to Puerto Varas, the City of Roses in Chile, a distance of over 450km.
Paying for all of her own travel and accommodation costs for the ride, the successful Yorkshire business woman who employs over 300 staff at her four restaurants across Leeds in Killingbeck, Colton Mill, Oakwood and another in Wakefield, has already raised over £4,500 for Ronald McDonald House Charities.
The charity helped over 7,000 families in 2013 providing free ‘home away from home’ accommodation for families with children in hospital.
Commenting on the ride Anne, 50, said: “I did the ride for a number of reasons, firstly and most importantly to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities.
“As a McDonald’s franchisee, I’ve seen first-hand the service our charity of choice provides to families with poorly children in hospital and it is wonderful.
“They are currently fundraising to build a House in Cardiff and will shortly be opening a 53 bedroom House in Southampton, so I’m delighted to be supporting this very worthy cause.
“Secondly, I did it so I could go to a beautiful part of the world I’ve always wanted to visit. The route we took was amazing, taking in snow-capped mountains and crystal blue lakes; amazing, I know the memories will stay with my long after my muscles have stopped aching.
“Finally, as I’ve been training hard for the ride for the past year, cycling all over Yorkshire, it’s helped to keep me fit!”
