Festive stockings for sick and premature babies

Christmas stockings packed with festive baby gifts are now hanging from incubators at a South Yorkshire hospital thanks to the kindness of IT and telecommunications firm DuoCall.

Staff at DuoCall, which is based near Magna, have gift-wrapped presents for stockings to go on the incubators in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Jessop Wing in Sheffield.

The unit looks after sick and premature infants from across the region including Rotherham, Sheffield, Barnsley, Doncaster and north Derbyshire and north Nottinghamshire.

DuoCall is supporting Sheffield Hospitals Charity which organises the Christmas stockings and DuoCall director Phil Coley visited the unit to present the stockings this week.

“It was very moving experience to visit the unit and meet the dedicated and hard-working staff.

“It is a great honour to be able to support Sheffield Hospitals Charity and we’re very much looking forward to developing this relationship in 2015,” said DuoCall director Phil Coley.

“Next year we will be getting much more involved in community projects.

“As a business which is rooted in the local community, we feel it’s only right that we support those who may be going through difficult times.”

Ruth Block, fundraising officer at Sheffield Hospitals Charity, added: “Parents whose children are receiving care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit have so much to think about, especially at this time of year. The stockings are a way that staff, the Charity and corporate supporters like DuoCall can show they care.”
