Mark Fallon joins Sheffield based Birley Manufacturing as Head of Projects, bringing with him a wealth of experience from a varied career in contracting.
Mark, 59, from Gringley-on-the-Hill, joins Birley following a varied career based in the UK as well as in South Africa and Antarctica. Mark has worked on a wide variety of contracts for clients such as JCT, Design & Build, NEC and Framework and is experienced in all areas including procurement, planning, logistics coordination and quality and budget control.
Mark will oversee projects across all the sectors that Birley operate in, getting involved with contracts on a day to day basis but also looking at developing new projects.
From 1973 to 1976 Mark was a member of the relief team that annually visited and maintained the research bases in the British Antarctic Territory.
He returned to the Antarctic in 2007 to work on the Halley Project where he spent several months each year overseeing the day to day running of the construction process there.
Birley’s MD Steve English said: “We are delighted to have Mark on board. He brings with him a good deal of experience which will generate new ideas and ways of working and I have no doubt that Birley will benefit greatly from having him as part of the management team.”
Birley Manufacturing is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers for interior environments and rail carriage equipment and works with some of the UK’s top names, such as Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, NatWest and First Great Western Trains.
The Sheffield based firm has steadily been strengthening its project management teams and pushing into new market sectors including education and product design.
