North Yorkshire charity moves into new skipton office

A Yorkshire charity which supports a wide range of individuals across the North of England to live the lives they choose has moved into a new base in Skipton.

The ground floor office – on the market town’s High Street – will enable The Avalon Group, which last year celebrated its 20th birthday, to promote and manage its services to the Craven District and further afield.

Its customers include older adults, people with dementia, physical, sensory or learning disabilities, mental health difficulties, acquired brain injuries, young people in transition and adults on the autistic spectrum.

Locality manager Joan Hearne said: “We are now housed in a town centre location, which means we are in the hub of activity for Skipton.

“The building is accessible from the High Street and is on the ground floor, meaning there are no barriers for any new and existing customers to pay us a visit.

“The new office has given us a much greater community feel as people out doing their shopping can come and say hello, and those looking for support in Skipton can drop in and get the information they need.”

She added: “The new office has the ability to hold meetings and smaller training sessions, and with new services launching in Skipton later this year, it will provide a great base of operations from which to promote and manage the increased offerings.”
