Sally Brown has joined South Yorkshire media training and PR consultancy, Capital B Media, as an account manager.
Sally is a former head of communications for Arts Council England’s Yorkshire HQ and has worked as a freelance PR Consultant, fundraiser and project manager for the past 12 years.
Capital B Media, which is based near Penistone, has clients in the public, private and third sector. They include South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire fire services; South Yorkshire and Derbyshire police; Magna Science Adventure Centre; Enterprising Barnsley; Pulmonary Hypertension Association UK; Acorn Brewery and Cornerstones Education.
The new post has been created in response to an increase in clients for Capital B Media, with six signing up since the start of 2015 alone.
Sally, who lives in Holmfirth, has worked in both private, public and third sector PR and marketing for over 30 years including Wakefield Council; Lynx PR; Space2, a Leeds-based arts and health charity; Artforms, the music and arts team within children’s services at Leeds City Council; and Creative Partnerships in Hull.
Sally was a member of a small team that won the Institute of Public Relations Sword of Excellence Award for work on a campaign for Vauxhall Motors to find the Women’s Institute Woman Driver of the Year. She also helped to prevent the demise of the Museum of the Working Horse in Halifax through a press campaign she ran with the help of Claire King, who played Kim Tate from Emmerdale.
The resulting press coverage led to the relocation of the working horses to Bradford’s Industrial Museum for many years until they were finally retired. More recently Sally has been handling press and marketing for Holmfirth Arts Festival and Impossible Arts in Huddersfield.
Sally said: “I’m thrilled to be working with Capital B Media after over a decade of freelance work. I’m really looking forward to getting to know the clients and helping the company to grow its portfolio.”
Capital B Media director, Kate Betts, said: “It’s great to have someone of Sally’s expertise on board as the company grows. We are taking on new clients all the time and want to continue providing a high quality service to them all.”
As well as offering traditional PR services, including social media, photography and video production, Capital B Media offer media training and are experts in crisis communications.
