Di Burton, managing director of Harrogate-based Cicada Communications, has become a “Freeman” of the Guild of Public Relations Practitioners.
Public relations is an essential activity in the City of London and the UK is a world leader in the profession. It was thus highly appropriate that PR professionals should take the first step towards creating a Livery company.
As one of the first City of London Guilds to be created in the 21st Century, it has been important to strike the balance between old and new, promoting best practice in public relations while upholding the unique spirit and values that have sustained the Livery over the centuries.
Di read out a declaration swearing allegiance to the Queen and to her heirs and successors, and agreed to uphold the Guild’s Code of Conduct.
The Guild’s Homecoming Banquet was held in the Glaziers Hall on the banks of the River Thames, and upheld many of the City Corporations and Livery traditions.
