Yorkshire contractors offered work opportunities

Construction companies from Yorkshire are being invited to a free Meet the Buyer event in Wakefield on March 12, to find out about upcoming work contracts.

Nearly 30 buyers have signed up to the event, including main contractors Longcross Construction, Kier Services and Wates, as well as Sheffield City Council and the University of York.

Leeds Federation Housing Association is among the list of exhibitors and will be recruiting for work on its upcoming projects involving curtilage, roofing and IT for its 3,800 properties across Leeds, Wakefield and North Yorkshire.

Constructionline is hosting the event at the Cedar Court Hotel in Wakefield, which will provide small businesses with valuable introductions to procurement teams from large construction service buyers in both the public and private sectors from the Yorkshire area.

The event will see procurement teams from the organisations give presentations detailing the impending work opportunities, as well as providing attendees with advice on bidding for work.

Aaron Good, client relationship manager at Constructionline, said: “In our experience, local organisations want to provide work for SMEs in their area and contractors are equally as eager to win these tenders.

Meet the buyer events are designed to offer local companies the chance to meet face-to-face with key procurement decision makers and help them understand how they can best win business from buyers in their region.”

The event will run from 8:30am until 2pm and suppliers do not have to be a Constructionline member to attend. For more information or to register interest, go to www.constructionline.co.uk/events
