M&S Pudsey is raising awareness of Leeds-based charity Brain Tumour Research and Support across Yorkshire (BTRS) by hosting an in store event every Friday during the month of March in a bid to raise an annual total of £10,000.
The team has already raised more than £7,000 over the last 11 months for the cause, which is the store’s chosen charity of the year, but employees are giving their fundraising an additional boost during the final month to reach their £10,000 target.
In store events kicked off yesterday with a day-long sponsored cycle on two exercise bikes. Fundraising enthusiast and M&S Pudsey employee, Paula Corner, who also participated in the Ultimate Warrior Challenge for BTRS this year, also took part in a six hour endurance test, with customers encouraged to challenge her to individual cycling races.
Sorrell Coulson, events and fundraising manager at BTRS, said: “M&S Pudsey are really putting in extra effort during March, which is Brain Tumour Awareness Month, and have already raised a staggering amount of money so far this year.
“The team’s commitment and donations will support those in Yorkshire and the Humber affected by a brain tumour, whilst also funding research to find a cure.”
Louise Slevin, store manager at M&S Pudsey, said: “As part of our Plan A commitments, we have been proactively raising money for BTRS for 11 months now and we wanted to spend the final month pushing for as many donations as possible for the charity.
“Many of our employees here at M&S Pudsey are enthusiastic about fundraising and take on personal challenges in order to achieve as many donations as possible, so as a team we wanted to go the extra mile too!
“The organisation is really local to us and we know it means a lot to our customers and community, so we are looking forward to handing over a big donation at the end of the year.”

Each year, M&S stores around the country select one charity to support for the full year, hosting fundraising events with customers and staff.
