The Institute of Directors (IoD) has named Keith Jackson as its branch chairman for South Yorkshire.
Keith is the managing director of JRI Orthopaedics, the Sheffield-based manufacturer of orthopaedic implants and surgical instruments.
With more than 300 members, the South Yorkshire branch of the IoD supports the development of local business leaders and organises well-attended business events.
Keith has spent more than two decades at JRI, working in sales, design, and managerial roles. He was appointed managing director in 2010.
After graduating from the University of Leeds with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he spent the first five years of his career as a design engineer for car manufacturer Jaguar.
After a year of voluntary work in Africa, he returned to the UK to achieve an MSc in Biomedical Engineering.
Keith is also a non-executive director of Medilink, which delivers business support for organisations in Yorkshire’s medical device sector.
Keith said: “This is a pivotal moment for South Yorkshire as the region looks to build on its proud manufacturing heritage and further cultivate its reputation for innovation and technology.
”I’m looking forward to working with our regional director, Natalie Sykes and our members in South Yorkshire to develop the skills of local directors and enable younger business leaders to prosper.”
IoD regional director Natalie Sykes said: “Keith will be the voice of the IoD in South Yorkshire, ensuring that we are well connected to the business agenda.
“He will help us to raise our profile and attract new members by engaging with local businesses, education providers and the public sector.”
