The British Franchise Association (bfa) recognises the UK’s most exceptional operators in a range of categories, for their business growth and development, service excellence and ethical franchising practice.
Bradford-based Drive Hire, a B2B management franchise within the recruitment sector, is shortlisted for Franchisor of the Year. The business has been shortlisted for the awards nine times in 10 years. It has 86 franchised offices across the UK.
Chris Chidley, Driver Hire’s chief executive said: “Our business model, franchise support and customer service all contribute to our ongoing success. It’s great that our efforts have been recognised in this way. To repeatedly make it to the finals says a huge amount about our business and what it offers our franchisees.”
Leeds-based Cafe2U offers a coffee and sweet treats delivery service across the UK. Competing in the Franchisee Recruitment category, it has 60 franchisees in the UK, and 200 worldwide.
Tom Acland, managing director of Cafe2U, commented: “We are thrilled to be shortlisted for this award and feel it reflects the time and effort the Cafe2U team invest in ensuring that our recruitment process is designed to attract people who suit the business and will be successful.”
Wetherby-based independent training provider Pitman Training Group, shortlisted for the award for Innovation, has been franchising for over 20 years and has over 100 training centres across the UK and internationally.
Claire Lister, managing director at Pitman Training Group, added: “Pitman Training Group constantly seeks and adapts ways to continue evolving with the franchise network to create, achieve and harness business success.
“Our innovative changes have significantly enhanced the growth and profitability of the business in all areas, and we are delighted our efforts have been recognised by the bfa. Being confirmed as a finalist in the bfa awards is a fantastic accolade for our achievements so far, and we are extremely honoured. “
The bfa awards showcase the diversity of excellence in the franchise sector, encouraging businesses of all sizes and sectors to demonstrate heir outstanding achievements.
The 2015 awards have five categories:
- bfa HSBC Franchisor of the Year
- Emerging Franchisor of the Year
- Award for Innovation
- Franchisee Recruitment Award
- Award for Customer Focus

All finalists will present to a panel of industry experts in London on 20 and 21 May. Winners will be announced at a black tie dinner on 25 June at the ICC, Birmingham.
