Directors and staff at North Yorkshire horticulture research facility, Stockbridge Technology Centre, are celebrating after two members of staff have been rewarded for excelling in their respective fields.
Dr David George has been awarded The Marsh Award for Early Career Entomologist whilst Gavin Milson has gained the BASIS & FACTS Certificates for Crop Protection & Fertilisers.
Dr George joined Stockbridge Technology Centre as Business Manager – Entomology in June 2014 and is delighted to have won the award that recognises an individual who has made an outstanding or exemplary early career contribution to Entomological Science.
He said: “I am incredibly proud to have won this prestigious award, especially since I was nominated for it by my PhD supervisor, and I look forward to developing my expertise with the team at Stockbridge Technology Centre.”
Gavin Milson joined the Technical Support function at Stockbridge Technology Centre in May 2014 and passed the BASIS & FACTS qualifications for people working in the pesticide, fertiliser and related sectors in March.
He was identified as an outstanding candidate for his examination papers and has been entered into a final selection process for the Barrie Orme shield.
Stockbridge Technology Centre’s director of science Dr Martin McPherson said: “Both David and Gavin have worked incredibly hard and their success is very well deserved. They are great ambassadors for Stockbridge Technology Centre and we are very proud of their achievements.”
