New owner for Skipton’s Home Company

Skipton’s long established furniture and furnishings store, The Home Company, has been taken over by the owner of High Corn Mill.

Andrew Mear has taken over the running of the business from Robert Hadaway who is retiring after 34 years. Supporting Andrew will be the long established sales team of Linda Lee and Michelle Swinscoe, bringing with them their valuable knowledge and experience.

Andrew, whose family business Eagerlux owns a wide portfolio of properties across West Yorkshire, said: “The Home Company is a flourishing business thanks to Robert’s hard-work and determination. I am really pleased to be taking over and will ensure the business continues to be the success it has become.”

Robert Hadaway said: “I’m delighted that I can now go and enjoy my retirement knowing that The Home Company will continue to thrive into the future under Andrew’s capable ownership.

“The most satisfying aspect of having a business is driving it forward and I’ve enjoyed it best when we’ve been opening a new showroom, bringing in a new range of furniture, or installing a new display.”

Robert, who started the business in Skipton in 1981, under the name Pottery and Pine, is looking forward to having more time for skiing in the Alps, trekking in the Himalayas and travelling the world.

The Home Company has thrived thanks to a belief in bringing together contemporary furniture and accessories that are practical, well displayed and great value for money. The spacious show rooms allow the ranges to be displayed in an inspirational way to allow customers to pick up ideas for their own homes.
