One of the UK’s most popular fashion retailers, Superdry, has announced it will come to Bradford for the first time by opening a store in The Broadway.
The new retailer will join The Broadway when it opens on Thursday 5 November, alongside leading department and fashion stores including Debenhams, M&S, H&M, Next, Topshop, Topman, New Look, Schuh and River Island.
The Superdry store, which will cover 10,700 sq ft of floor space over two levels and be located on the Petergate Mall.
Superdry will benefit from The Broadway’s modern retail offering, join a growing list of UK leading brands who will capitalise on the forecasted 78% increase in retail spend* and the 40% increase in footfall to the city centre following the opening of The Broadway**.
Keith Mabbett, director of Leasing at Westfield, said: “Superdry is an excellent addition to The Broadway and one that is a further vote of confidence in both The Broadway and Bradford in general. It demonstrates that the UK’s big name retailers are increasingly keen to come to Bradford.
“More than 80 per cent of the floorspace at The Broadway is committed, and I look forward to announcing more exciting retailers before we open our doors to the public on Thursday 5 November.”
Claire Arksey, head of UK Retail, from Superdry, said: “The Broadway, with its cutting edge design and double height frontages, is a great location for us.
“We look forward to welcoming customers to our new store in November where they will be able to experience the high quality and breadth of Superdry products.”
Coun David Green, leader of Bradford Council, said: “It’s good to see Superdry join the list of top high street names that have signed up to our new shopping centre. They are an innovative retailer that seem attracted to The Broadway’s cutting edge design.
“Retailers should take advantage of our beneficial City Centre Growth Zone rate rebates which are on offer to those who qualify by creating new jobs. This scheme has been very successful and is a sound platform for companies wanting to prosper. There isn’t a better time to come and be part of the buzz being created here.”
The Broadway development will create 2,500 new retail jobs upon opening and is already delivering a significant boost to the local and regional economy.
