A “day at the races” has seen a Harrogate tax specialist raise hundreds of pounds for a children’s charity.
Outhwaite Associates, which is led by former tax inspector Stephen Outhwaite, helped to amass £300 for the national charity Caudwell Children’s, thanks to the generosity of clients and friends at an Ascot races event.
Caudwell Children, which is the company’s chosen charity of 2015, provides family support services, equipment, treatment and therapies for disabled children and their families across the UK.
It also runs an Enable Sport programme for talented disabled athletes and its Destination Dreams holiday for children fighting life threatening conditions.
Mr Outhwaite, who was introduced to the charity and its aims by a client, said: “Whilst we are a Harrogate-based company, we have clients all over the UK, and this sits well with us supporting Caudwell Children.
“The Ascot day was our first fundraising activity for them, and, whilst it’s always the bookies who win at the races, on this occasion Caudwell Children has too!
“We have a number of other fundraising initiatives taking place throughout the rest of the year, and I’m confident we can raise many more pounds for this excellent cause that helps disabled kids across the country.”
Christina Demetriou, from Caudwell Children’s corporate relations and sales department, said: “We are very grateful to Stephen and those clients of his whom helped raise this money.
“It is very much appreciated as without the support of businesses and individuals we would not be able to carry on with the work that we do, namely helping families to access vital support that they wouldn’t receive through statutory measures.
“And, if I was a betting women, I would say that Outhwaite Associates are odds on favourites for raising more funds for us!”
