Hello Work brings Droplet Leeds Dock to share insights and expertise

Leeds-based small and independent business owners will get the opportunity to quiz one of the UK’s latest tech start-up companies, Droplet, at an event at Hello Work, Leeds Dock.

Droplet is the world’s only transaction free mobile app that lets people pay and collect loyalty rewards on their phone, and one of its co-founders will be sharing his insights and experiences of setting up the company.

Co-founder of Droplet, Steffan Aquarone, will be speaking on the evening of Wednesday, September 23 as part of Hello Work’s new series of ‘First Time Founders’ events.

The event will be followed by a VIP menu tasting preview at the newly-opened Caffeine & Co at Leeds Dock.

Droplet has secured £575,000 of Crowdfunding to enable the roll-out of its payment and rewards system and officially launched in Leeds last month. Over 25 local independent retailers have already signed up, including Café 164, Tall Boys Beer Market, BangWok and several merchants in Leeds Corn Exchange.

“We chose Leeds as one of the first cities to launch in as we know it’s one of the fastest growing and most vibrant in the UK. It has a thriving food and drink scene and an army of independent retailers prepared to be part of a ‘quiet’ payment and customer loyalty revolution,” said Steffan Aquarone.

He added: “Hello Work offers a great environment in which businesses can grow and develop. I’m looking forward to meeting some of the city’s entrepreneurs and start-up businesses so that I can hopefully add to that by sharing some interesting stories and useful tips.”

Hello Work is a successful workplace platform, which offers co-working and hot-desking space, as well as events and other support for the small and independent business community.

Tim Gee from Hello Work said: “Hello Work is all about improving the way small businesses work and develop through creating the next generation of workplace.

“We create destinations and communities for those who want to work in new ways and spaces and nurture an eco system that allows businesses to grow and flourish.

“I’m delighted to be welcoming Steffan as the first speaker in our First Time Founders series and I’m sure he can offer some really valuable business insights to anyone who would like to come along, whatever their sector or industry.

“With the recent launch of Tech North here in Leeds, this is a timely event to help kick start the wider community within Leeds to develop a thriving enterprise ecosystem.”
