Leeds-based insurance broker shortlisted for industry award

Leeds-based commercial insurance broker and risk management consultant, Gauntlet, has been shortlisted for one of the insurance industry’s top accolades – an Insurance Times Award.

Gauntlet is one of only three companies shortlisted for the award for ‘Excellence in Motor Broking’ and the only insurance broker from the Yorkshire and northeast region to be nominated.

The shortlisting comes as Gauntlet approaches its 21st anniversary in the bus and coach insurance sector.  Managing director, Roger Gaunt, founded the company in 1994, as a bus and coach specialist and, although it now also serves many other types of commercial customer seeking insurance and risk management services, it still has a dedicated bus and coach team focusing solely on its customers in this field.

Gauntlet’s award entry for the Insurance Times Award highlighted the in-depth attention Gauntlet provides to its commercial motor customers’ needs and also included testimonials from operators who had saved thousands of pounds on their premiums, thanks to Gauntlet’s risk management consultancy.

It detailed the extent to which the Killingbeck-based motor broking team will understand a customer’s business, to create a complete picture of how it operates, before making recommendations as to how the customer can make changes that will protect their business and its finances in the long-term, rather than simply focusing on a quick saving on a premium at next renewal.

Ian McCarron, Gauntlet director and head of the commercial broker’s motor division, said: “We are delighted to be nominated for this top insurance industry award.

“Being just one of three shortlisted companies serving the motor sector is testimony to the dedication of the whole team and their hard work over the many years in which they have built trust amongst customers, offered outstanding risk management consultancy and placed risks with the commercial insurance providers that can best match a particular customer’s requirements and the needs of their fleet.”

Mr Gaunt added: “Our motor broking team know the commercial motor sector inside out and have proved themselves to be much-respected risk managers for many operators across the country.

“I am very proud of their achievements and the recognition that has now come their way through this Insurance Times Award shortlisting.”
