Distinction Doors fuels growth with telecoms investment

Fast growing Yorkshire business Distinction Doors has made a major investment in its telecoms technology.

The Barnsley-based company, which works with fabricators and installers to provide composite doors for domestic and social housing, has more than doubled its workforce to almost 100 people in the past 12 months.

The speed of this growth placed strain on its telecoms infrastructure, which had reached capacity and required upgrading to meet current and future demand.

Wakefield-based telecoms specialist NGC Networks has installed a new Avaya business telephony solution which includes call reporting software and IP telephone lines for disaster recovery.

Gareth Williams, IT director at Distinction Group, said: “We have made considerable investment in our infrastructure of late, in order to maintain our high levels of customer service.

“We considered upgrading our old phone system but it had become difficult to maintain. Once NGC had shown us the new Avaya IP500 system we could see the cost benefits and the scope to accommodate further growth. It works well and the feedback from staff has been very good.”

NGC Networks specialises in telecommunications and internet connectivity. Its growing client portfolio also includes Superbreak Holidays, Manning Stainton, Puma UK, Animalcare, Bradford Bulls and The Car People.

Director Dean Harrop said: “We have a strong relationship with Distinction Group and were pleased to advise them on the importance of upgrading their telecoms infrastructure.

“As this exciting business continues to grow, this investment will ensure that their communications are efficient and reliable.”
