Thanks to a Wakefield estate agency, the stage was set for giving a group of drama and live events students the warmest welcome to the district.
Linley & Simpson braced itself for one of its busiest days of the year when it played a starring role in helping a new intake of students training at the Backstage Academy – which counts Robbie Williams and Lady Gaga among its clients – move into their new homes.
To mark the occasion, and raise money for charity at the same time, the residential sales and letting agency offered coffee and cakes to the students, their families and the public at its Northgate branch on the morning of the big move.
Held as part of Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, it was among a weekend of fund-raising events organised by Linley & Simpson in aid of the cancer charity that netted more than £1,700.
Emma Hodgson, Wakefield branch manager for Linley & Simpson, said: “We are delighted to work in partnership with Backstage Academy and wanted to give them, and their families, a warm welcome to the ‘Merrie City’.
“Backstage Academy’s growing reputation means that their students are drawn from all over the UK and we wanted to make sure that their experience of living in Wakefield – the ‘Merrie City’ – got off to the best possible start, while raising money at the same time for a terrific cause.”
With bases at Unity Hall in Wakefield, and Langthwaite Grange Business Park in South Kirkby, Backstage Academy provides the best possible training for the flourishing live events industry, with fantastic industry links and state-of-the-art production facilities.
Founded in July 2009, it has quickly earned a reputation as a centre of excellence for backstage training, specialising in degree courses, short courses and bespoke training programmes for young students, established professionals and community groups.
