Bespoke luxury kitchen and furniture designer makes double appointment

Bespoke luxury kitchen and furniture company my fathers heart has added two new designers to its expanding team.

Graham Kemp, 35, joins as lead designer and Chrissi Batey, 23, as assistant designer as the business continues to grow ahead of its move into a new £1 million showroom and workshop.

Graham has more than ten years of experience in the design industry and joins from national decorator Dulux’s Design Services department.

Before Dulux, Graham spent four-and-a-half years at Philip Dowse Interiors in Leicester, and said that it was an urge to re-enter the bespoke interior design industry that led him to my fathers heart.

Founded by Jonathan Coulthard in 1995, my fathers heart has been chosen to become the South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire flagship location for contemporary, market-leading German kitchen brand, SieMatic.

“It was the fact that Jonathan is taking my fathers heart to a whole new level that attracted me,” said Graham, who has a degree in product design and lives in Matlock in Derbyshire.

“Jonathan’s spent over 20 years in the industry and his attention to detail is something I see in myself. I love getting every little detail right – I’m a perfectionist, which makes my fathers heart an ideal fit.”

Chrissi studied art and design at Arts University Bournemouth then moved north to build on this, graduating in interior design at Sheffield Hallam University. After her first appointment with a kitchen retailer her keen eye for design led her to my fathers heart.

“I knew my fathers heart would suit my ambition – the level of quality produced here is second to none,” said Chrissi.

“SieMatic as a brand is outstanding in itself, so it’s doubly exciting at my fathers heart; I’m working with SieMatic alongside some of the best bespoke, kitchen designers in the UK. It’s a fantastic opportunity for me.”

Construction work is almost complete on my fathers heart’s new state-of-the-art showroom at Broadfield Business Park.

Jonathan Coulthard, managing director of my fathers heart, said: “Graham and Chrissi have already made a massive impact, producing some stunning, radical designs.

“Graham’s ideas are exciting and fresh, worthy of any beautiful home you might find in the capital and he’s certainly impressing our customers already. I’m delighted to have them on board.”
