Awards recognition for festive Scarborough delivery driver

A driver who has been delivering and collecting parcels for Scarborough residents and businesses for more than 20 years has been recognised with a national award.

Clifford North from Whitwell-based YDL, part of the APC Overnight network, received a Four Wheels Award from Viscount Falkland at the National Courier Awards in Pall Mall London.

Cliff, who is known for his trademark festive Santa hat and jolly disposition during the busy Christmas period, achieved the award as a result of his commitment to training the younger generation and fantastic client feedback.

Dave Lawson, depot principal at YDL, said: “In all the years Cliff has worked for me, I have never found a more polite, friendly and reliable driver and this award is thoroughly deserved. He is a great ambassador for our company and a real asset to the business he supports throughout Scarborough.”

Laura Cooper, managing director at Scarborough-based CK INK Direct, said: “Cliff consistently delivers our shipments on time and in tip top condition. He is always cheerful and helpful. And we love his Christmas Santa hat.”

Cliff said: “I was in shock when I received the invite to the award’s ceremony. There are some fantastic businesses throughout Scarborough and it’s a real pleasure to deliver for them every day. The fact that the nomination came from both YDL and some of my regular customers makes it doubly special.”
