A new bar specialising in gin, high end spirits and champagne will officially launch in Skipton on January 2.
The family owned 1 Victoria Square (V.SQ), which is just off the High Street, is being opened by Lorraine Forshaw. It has created 11 jobs and has sourced its bespoke interiors and food from local suppliers. It will be introducing meat and cheese platters alongside its carefully selected drinks. The bar also offers gin, wine and whisky tasting sessions as well as being available for private hire.
Lorraine who is from Thorlby, near Skipton, said: “This is the first bar I’ve opened and it’s been great to get such a warm welcome from local residents and lots of positive feedback. We’re open for the holidays as a soft launch but will be officially opening on Saturday January 2 and welcome all to come and see V.SQ.”
Although Lorraine is now permanently based in Dubai, V.SQ’s operations will be managed by daughter Aimee Forshaw. The bar side will be managed by Tom Grummett who has a background in hospitality.
Landlord of 1 Victoria Square, Andrew Mear, said: “It’s great to see this space being used for something completely different and I believe it is going to add a new dynamic to Skipton’s social scene.”
