More cash for small businesses

Another five local businesses have benefitted from Richmondshire District Council’s Small Business Grant Scheme.

It brings to 28 the number of small businesses that have received a total of £23,493 through the scheme since October 2015.

The grants support small businesses in Richmondshire with up to £1,000.

Businesses have previously received funding for new websites to enable them to trade online, IT equipment to help them employ more staff and to buy tools to help start in business.

Stephen Lambert from G and CM Lambert, Livestock Farmers from Leyburn – which is one of the latest businesses to be offered a grant, said: “The small business grant scheme will really help us to expand our business and offer a different service to our clients. It will help our business be more streamlined and efficient.”

And another recipient – Maria Cotteral of Puddleducks, a retail and soft furnishings business from Catterick Village – added: “We are thrilled to receive the news we have been awarded a grant.  We are a very new business and the equipment we can now buy will really help us.”

Businesses to receive funding through the second round of the scheme are:

  • Picture Britain an online photography retailer from Stapleton – for a website
  • Cowgirl Catering, a catering company from Scorton – for a website and fridge
  • Sensory Equine Therapy from Hudswell – for a new website
  • G & CM Lambert – for fencing equipment
  • Puddleducks – for a sewing machine, lap top and cutting machine

There is still a small amount of money left in the pot.  All completed applications must be received by February 5.
