Leeds Dock Work – the team organising business events and enterprise support at the city’s rapidly-developing waterfront location – is hosting an exclusive opportunity to find out the secrets behind the global achievements of the Illamasqua colour cosmetics brand, from its founder Julian Kynaston.
The event is being held tomorrow from 5.30pm at Dock 29 at Leeds Dock and will see Julian Kynaston being interviewed, and then opening up to the business audience to ask their own questions about how he has led two brands in the hair beauty business to worldwide success.
Sam Jarrett from Leeds Dock Work said: “Julian rarely gives interviews or talks publicly about his achievements and in this first of our ‘In conversation with…’ events, he’ll be talking to our interviewer on stage, and then opening up to your questions.
“It will be part interview, part behind the scenes glimpse, part business and branding masterclass and it really is a rare and exciting opportunity to learn how to truly build a brand from the inside out and then take it global. We know our audience won’t be disappointed.”
Now with 13 outlets in the UK – as well major sales in the USA, Australia, the Middle East and the Far East – Illamasqua has grown from British brand to global phenomenon and enjoys a celebrity following including Lady Gaga, Courtney Love and Lily Allen.
Julian Kynaston has led the business at every step of the way and also achieved similar status and success for GHD as marketing director of the business during its major transition phase and international roll out. And, as chairman and founder of strategic marketing consultancy Propaganda, Julian has also been asked to take directorships of many of its clients over its 21 year history.
Tim Gee, Leeds Dock’s estate director, said: “Leeds Dock Work is committed to offering the very best in terms of business speakers, skills development and spaces for the Leeds and Yorkshire business community.
“We’re very excited about this first event for a new era at Leeds Dock and look forward to welcoming our previous residents and partners of Hello Work and lots of new faces as well.”
