The Wensleydale Creamery has been announced as the main sponsor for June’s Dales Festival of Food & Drink.
The festival is back with a new look event for 2016 and, with a new organising team behind it, will be held in the market place of Leyburn. The announcement today that The Wensleydale Creamery will be sponsoring the 2016 festival has helped to safeguard the future of this popular food and drink festival for the Dales.
The Wensleydale Creamery, based at Hawes in Wensleydale, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, is the home of award-winning Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese, which is protected with European food name status.
It champions local produce, sourcing milk from over 40 local farms to handcraft its range of cheese, yogurt & butter. Visitors to its popular on-site Visitor Centre can enjoy a taste of Yorkshire, where all food & produce is home-made & locally sourced too. The Wensleydale Creamery is firmly embedded in the community contributing more than £10 million to the local Dales economy annually.
David Hartley, managing director of the Wensleydale Creamery, said: “The Wensleydale Creamery has supported The Dales Festival of Food & Drink since it was formed 14 years ago.”
“The Festival has important economic benefits to the area and is a real showcase for local food & drink businesses. As a proud Yorkshire business, it’s a great honour to be able to support and promote this significant local event.
“We want to ensure that the festival continues to attract visitors to Wensleydale and the surrounding Dales so that we can celebrate and showcase the delicious food and drink hailing from our beautiful landscape.”
Chairman of The Dales Festival of Food & Drink, Colin Toogood, said: “As one of the biggest and most iconic food producers in the Dales, as well as being an internationally recognised brand and major employer in the area, we couldn’t ask for a more apt and supportive sponsor to have on board.
“We very much look forward to working together with The Wensleydale Creamery to making the 2016 festival a real success.”
