Gauntlet drives business growth through new sales structure

Commercial insurance broker and risk manager, Gauntlet Group, has created a new managerial post and promoted from within, to further drive business growth and support an extended sales team.

Angela McIver is now Gauntlet’s motor sales manager, a new position that sees her co-ordinating and managing the sales function within Gauntlet, as well as mentoring other members of the sales team, to enable them to fulfil their potential and achieve their targets.

Her promotion comes approximately 18 months after her return to Gauntlet, which she first worked for in 2009 and left for a short period.

The creation of this position underlines the growth and diversification of Gauntlet’s motor fleet business in the last year. The commercial broker has been long-established as a bus and coach insurance specialist, but has significantly grown its haulage, courier and motor fleet insurance business in the past twelve months.

Angela McIver is now responsible for overseeing all motor fleet sales teams and managing sales strategies within each niche sector.

She is also nurturing a hungry sales team that includes Adam Khanani –  a graduate who joined Gauntlet from the Pareto sales recruitment agency, after being identified as one of the best sales graduates in the country.

Having undertaken 15 days’ intensive off-site training, in areas such as ethical negotiation and presentation skills, Adam has been fast-tracked by Gauntlet, so he can achieve CII Associate status within 18 months to two years, rather than three-five years, as would be the norm.

Additionally, Phil Winter has joined as a new account handler within Angela’s sales team, focusing on renewals and new business generation.

Gauntlet’s director, Ian McCarron, said: “Our motor fleet division is going from strength to strength and making a major contribution to Gauntlet’s overall commercial insurance business, which covers a wide variety of business sectors.

“Promoting Angela into her new role allows us to cement the advances we have made in various fleet motor markets and lay the foundations for launches into new commercial motor-related areas in the near future.

“Angela has extensive experience not just of the motor fleet market, but also of the Gauntlet brand and its values.  We are confident that she will be extremely successful in this role and help Gauntlet achieve its ambitious goals.”
