Guests staying at a York hotel have helped it achieve world-wide recognition from global travel website TripAdvisor.
The Best Western Monkbar Hotel – which has recently completed a major £3m upgrade – has been named as one of the recipients of the global organization’s
Certificate of Excellence.
The Certificate of Excellence accounts for the quality, quantity and recency of reviews submitted by travellers on TripAdvisor over a 12-month period.
To qualify, a business must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, have a minimum number of reviews and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months.
Heather Leisman, vice president of Industry Marketing, TripAdvisor, said: “With the Certificate of Excellence, TripAdvisor honours hospitality businesses that have consistently received strong praise and ratings from travellers.
“This recognition helps travellers identify and book properties that regularly deliver great service. TripAdvisor is proud to play this integral role in helping travellers feel more confident in their booking decisions.”
Monkbar Hotel general manager Graham Usher said: “The TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence is the latest in a long list of accolades presented to the Monkbar over recent months.
“We are extremely proud of this latest award, particularly as it comes from comments left on TripAdvisor who have stayed with us.
“The customer experience is our number one priority, and this demonstrates that we are certainly on the right path.
“It’s also a great testament to the hard work and dedication of the team hear – both front and back of house.”
Mr Usher added: “At the beginning of the year we had our star rating upgraded from three to four and only last month we were presented with the ‘CaskMarque’, for the way our bar staff carefully look after the real ale.
“We have been shortlisted in the Visit York Tourism Awards in the category for Best Hotel, and last June we retained our prestigious green business tourism award.”
