Pudsey based Winder Ltd has recruited its third employee through the Tempus Novo Charity, supporting its efforts to create sustainable employment opportunities for ex-offenders, helping them to move away from a life of crime.
The business, along with a growing number of partner companies throughout the UK, has supported the Leeds based charity since its establishment in 2014, and has to date recruited three ex-offenders through the Tempus Novo programme, all of whom were offered full-time employment with the company.
Of the three employees, the first taken on through the charity has been with Winder Power as a fitter / stock-handler for over three years, having joined in February 2013, following a work placement in January 2012 as part of his rehabilitation.
The second took up a permanent role in October 2014 as a trainee winder, while the third and most recent recruit joined last month as a trainee coil winder. All three have been given a fresh start, with the opportunity to positively turn their lives around.
Commenting on Winder Power’s support of the Charity, one of the three employees who has been with Winder Power for two years, said: “I’m very grateful for the opportunity given to me by Tempus Novo and Winder Power.
“Tempus Novo guided me through the process of getting back into work, and arranged an interview with Winder Power, which can be extremely difficult in my circumstances. This job has helped me turn my life around. They made me look at myself differently and with the support of my mentor I managed to break the cycle of crime. I’ve now been with Winder Power for two years and I can honestly say I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.”
Winder Power manufacturing manager Dave Child said: “We at Winder Power are passionate about the rehabilitation of ex-offenders and offering a second chance. We’re delighted to be involved with such a rewarding charity.
“The charity is not only a positive for the employees, but also for the companies involved, as we’ve now benefitted from some very hard working and enthusiastic team members who have integrated well and are a real pleasure to work with. We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with the charity into the future.”
