Showcasing a comprehensive display of vehicles for disabled people, the Motability Scheme’s One Big Day event returned to Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate and attracted over 3,000 visitors.
More than 250 guests took the opportunity to take to the road and test drive a vehicle of their choice with a professional driving instructor, with options including a range of cars fitted with some of the most popular driving adaptations available on the Motability Scheme.
Test drives are an important part of deciding which vehicles are best suited to individual needs and the One Big Day event gave guests a unique opportunity to try a variety of cars and adaptations all in one place.
Visitors enjoyed exploring the wide range of vehicles on display which included more than 50 cars from 13 leading manufacturers including Vauxhall, Ford, Nissan and Peugeot. The One Big Day event also gave visitors the opportunity to explore over 30 scooters and powered wheelchairs as well as a wide range of Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles and products from adaptation suppliers.
Attendees were also able to talk to Motability Scheme advisors and gather useful information from Scheme partners – Kwik Fit, RAC and RSA Motability – as well as advice from Disabled Motoring UK.
Younger visitors made the most of the free children’s entertainment and enjoyed playing on the bouncy castle, getting their faces painted and meeting the Motability Scheme mascot, Billy the Bear.
Alison Beasley, One Big Day event organiser, Motability Operations Ltd, said: “It was great to return to Yorkshire Event Centre for the One Big Day event held in the brand new exhibition space which made the venue even more accessible for guests.
“We were very pleased to see an increase in the number of visitors that came along to explore their mobility options and speak to our team of experts and Scheme partners. We are now looking forward to the last event of this summer at Peterborough Arena next month.”
All the One Big Day events are free to attend, including free parking. Visitors are also treated to a free cup of tea or coffee when they arrive. Events open at 9am and close at 4pm.
