Sowerby Bridge-based street lighting equipment manufacturer Lucy Zodion is celebrating after being awarded Manufacturer of the Year by the Highway Electrical Association (HEA) at its annual national awards ceremony.
The awards recognise best practice and excellence from the industry’s top performers, and were voted for by HEA members and confirmed by the HEA’s top industry judges.
The award is recognition of investment that Lucy Zodion has made to be at the forefront of street lighting, with innovative products and excellent customer service. Through its range of products, including control management systems, Lucy Zodion is supporting councils and local authorities to improve energy efficiency and reduce costs.
This latest accolade comes at an exciting time for Lucy Zodion, as it undergoes a significant expansion of its warehouse at its Sowerby Bridge HQ to double its floor space, reflecting the company’s growing success as a British manufacturer.
In the past 12 months, Lucy Zodion has launched new products such as the most energy and operationally efficient photocell on the market that can reduce street light energy costs by up to 75per cent: in Nottinghamshire, it is helping the county council to save around £900,000 a year.
The firm has also published reports, research and an online hub to help councils better understand Smart Cities and the opportunities that they provide.
John Fox, managing director at Lucy Zodion, said: “To be recognised by HEA members as Manufacturer of the Year is a tremendous achievement and a reflection of the efforts across the business to create market-leading products and support our customers with their needs in a changing landscape.
“This award is not only recognition of our successes to date but a benchmark to hold ourselves to over the coming year.”
HEA members’ activities range from street lighting, traffic signals and signs to highway communications and camera systems. The awards ceremony took place as part of the HEA Annual Conference and exhibition at the Celtic Manor Hotel.
