Acclaimed North Yorkshire hairdresser Joseph Ferraro, pictured, is celebrating after being recognised as one of the UK’s top stylists at the hair industry’s very-own Oscar ceremony.
The 34-year old hairdresser, who has two salons in Harrogate, has been crowned North Eastern Hairdresser of the Year at the British Hairdressing Awards in London.
It was a case of fifth time lucky for Australian-born Joseph, who has been a finalist in the prestigious awards almost every year since 2010?
But this year, the father-of-one, who opened his first salon in the spa town of Harrogate 10-years-ago, went one better to take the title.
“This is the fifth time lucky for me and to be finally crowned North Eastern Hairdresser of the Year is just fantastic,” said Joseph, who lives in the town.
“I have worked incredibly hard over the years to get to this position – and been supported by my brilliant team at Joseph Ferraro Hair, as well as my wonderful wife Lesley.
“I feel extremely grateful to be part of such a talented industry – and am delighted to have been chosen as one of the best hairdressers in the UK,” said Joseph.
The British Hairdressing Awards, recognised as the Oscars of the hairdressing industry, have launched the careers of many household names, including Jamie Stevens, Andrew Barton, Nicky Clarke and John Frieda.
The Award ceremony was hosted by comedian and author David Walliams, alongside Hairdressers Journal International’s executive director Jayne Lewis-Orr.
Jayne said: “This award cements Joseph as the North Eastern region’s leading hair talent. But a win doesn’t just mean you’re the very best in the area, it also marks you out as one of the greatest stylists in the country.
“This win positions you as an expert and puts Harrogate on the map too.”
An expert hair cutter and colourist, Joseph combines his work at his two salons with a busy diary of fashion shoots, education seminars and live hairdressing shows. He’s a regular at London Fashion Week, as well as top industry events Salon International and Pro-Hair Live.
