Two York hotels are pulling together this weekend to host a festive party for York people who will be spending Christmas alone.

Whilst the Best Western Monkbar Hotel will be staging Sunday’s event, colleagues from the Best Western Dean Court Hotel will be providing the ingredients for the two course meal.

The party is the brainchild of Best Western events co-ordinator Stephanie Spaven, who approached Simon Murphy at the Best Western Deans Court Hotel for help staging the event.

Stephanie said: “Christmas can be a lonely time, more so than normal if you have no one to spend it with.

“My idea was to help organise an event for those who will be spending Christmas by themselves, giving them something to look forward to and enabling them to celebrate this time of year with others.

“I’m incredibly grateful to the managers of both venues and I know those attending are very much looking forward to it. By putting on an event such as this it makes me feel good that a small number of us have been able to help the wider community.”

Graham Usher, general manager of the Monkbar Hotel said: “The Monkbar Hotel is situated in the heart of the city, and we are always keen to give something back to the local community.

“I’m delighted to be teaming up with Simon Murphy at the Dean Court and we are pulling together to ensure it is a Christmas cracker of a party!”
