Yorkshire Bank provides £10m loan for new Harrogate care home development

Yorkshire Bank has financed one of the largest new care home developments in the UK with a £10m loan.

This follows Yorkshire Bank’s funding of Vida Healthcare’s first home, Vida Hall, and brings the total number of beds across the group to 194.

Brian De Vere, Business Banking Manager said “Yorkshire Bank is delighted to be able to fund this valuable project and continue our relationship with Vida Healthcare. The new care home will make a significant difference to the area, not only through the creation of new jobs, but also through providing the support and care to those who need it.”

James Rycroft, managing director of Vida Healthcare, said: “We’re thrilled that our continued partnership with Yorkshire Bank has allowed us to develop two much-needed, specialist services, putting Harrogate on the map for quality dementia care.

“The funding has created almost 200 residential places, as well as day care services and respite care to the local area and beyond. It will also provide a real boost to local employment.”

Leeds – based law firm, Blacks Solicitors, has also been working closely with the Vida Healthcare team on acquiring the land and developing the new build care home.

Nick Dyson, partner in the commercial property team at Blacks, attended the opening of the new care home. He said: “It has been a pleasure working with Vida Healthcare on this project. The work they continue to do is fantastic and we are proud to be able to support it.

“The care home looks outstanding and will go a long way to providing the highest quality care to those who need it. Not to mention the local job opportunities it will open up. It really is a fantastic development for the community.”

Upon completion of Vida Grange, the Vida Healthcare Group, which has previously won the Skills for Care Best Employer of the Year Award, will become a significant employer in the Harrogate area, providing work for around 300 people across both homes.

High quality care for people living with dementia is a growing issue both locally and nationally. Vida Healthcare, who were established in 2010, were one of the first care home groups to be awarded the 5* outstanding rating following the changes in assessment by the CQC (Care Quality Commission).
