A small business grant scheme has made its first awards of 2017.
It brings the number of small local businesses supported since bids opened in November 2016 to eleven.
The Richmondshire District Council Small Business Grant Scheme – which is now in its fourth year – can offer up to £1,000 in aid to eligible businesses. And it still has £22,850 left in the pot to allocate on a first come first basis.
Businesses supported in this latest round of grants include a shop in Leyburn, a beauty specialist in Hawes, a recruitment company in Colburn and a haulage firm from Richmond.
Eligible businesses must be solvent, up to date with their district council accounts – such as business rates, and have no more than four employees at the time of making the application. They must contribute at least 25 per cent of the cost of the project and businesses already supported through previous schemes are not able to apply again.
The scheme can support the purchase of IT equipment, updating of websites, purchase of machinery, undertaking of training courses and marketing/promotional costs. It cannot fund employee salaries or rent and utilities costs.
The application form is available to download from Richmondshire.gov.uk – and, any business wanting to discuss a potential application can contact Samantha Coultish on 01748 901037 or Samantha.firstname.lastname@example.org. The next deadline for bids is 7 March 2017.
