South Yorkshire business have been urged to “get claiming” by local digital service providers after Superfast South Yorkshire’s (SFSY) new Connection and Innovations Voucher Scheme launched officially on Monday.

The plea comes from Sheffield-based companies One2Call and Switchstance who have teamed up to present a series of free workshops to advise local businesses on how to make the most of the funding available.

“£1.5m might sound like a lot of money, but with up to £12,500 available per business and many, many local businesses desperate to adopt modern digital technologies we think the pot could run dry pretty quick” said Alex Hodgson, Business Development Manager at One2Call.

Emily Brownell of Switchstance said: “That’s why we’ve teamed up with One2Call to offer these free workshops.  The core of our business is developing bespoke web-based solutions for companies to integrate, streamline and improve their processes and customer experience, and One2Call are experts in the physical infrastructure that underpins this, such as internet connectivity, networking, security and communications systems, so all bases will be covered!”

Two types of funding are available; Connection Vouchers of between £500 and £2500 for faster broadband products, and Innovation Vouchers of up to £12,499.50 to fund innovations that utilise a superfast connection to make the business more competitive.

The first two workshops take place in Sheffield on Wednesday, 22 February and Barnsley on Wednesday 8 March and can be booked by going to www.connectionandinnovationvouchers.co.uk
