A Kirklees specialist engineering firm has received a £1.7m finance package from Yorkshire Bank to assist with its growth plans.

MTE Heat Treatment, based in Slaithwaite, has moved to a 35,000 square foot, brand-new purpose-built facility on a 2.5 acre plot in the town.

The firm already employs 30 people in the local area, with that number expected to increase by a third over the coming years.

The MTE facilities are equipped with high quality machinery, employing the latest technology, equipment and testing facilities which enable the company to service a broad client base including automotive customers. Their continuous investment programme, including this recent funding package, ensures that facilities are maintained to the highest standard.

Geoff Windas, director, MTE Heat Treatment, said: “Part of the finance package was used to fund two new £1m state-of-the-art furnaces. They will be the first of their kind in the UK and will provide us with a significant competitive edge in the sub-contract heat treatment market.

“Our business was constrained by lack of space in our old premises, and we expect to increase output by 80% on our new site.”

Mike Edwards, relationship manager, Yorkshire Bank, said: “MTE Heat Treatment has been a customer of ours for over ten years and we’ve been delighted to watch them grow organically, especially over the past three years. We are proud to be involved in the next stage of their development and wish them every success in their new premises.”
