Following the success of its inaugural Cyber Security Workshop, Boston Spa-based Deans Computer Services (DCS) is planning to host several more in 2017.
Providing a wide-ranging consultation session for SMEs seeking IT security advice, the first workshop took place earlier this month at the company’s head office with guest speakers including DCI Vanessa Smith, head of the Yorkshire & Humber regional Cybercrime Unit, and a number of DCS partners specialising in anti-virus, data encryption and cyber security awareness training.
Also presenting were DCS technical director, Chris Lord, and DCS sales manager, Barry Rankin. The event was extremely well attended and as a result DCS has already prepared quotations for several prospective clients.
DCS marketing director, Suzie Cowling, said: “Remote technical support is, of course, an invaluable IT resource for businesses on a day-to-day basis, but the experience of our recent exhibitions and our first Cyber Security Workshop has demonstrated that there is a lot to be said for face-to-face discussion from time to time.
“Events like this give you the chance to really get to the heart of each individual SME’s concerns regarding a vital issue like cyber security. Many attendees told us that they came away with a much better understanding of the preventative measures that they can adopt to help protect them against ever increasing, invidious cybercrime which is impacting businesses on a global scale.
