Staff at Shulmans LLP have presented a cheque for £6,555 to Yorkshire Cancer Research following a year of fundraising.
The Leeds-based firm organised a series of fundraising activities, including Yorkshire tea parties in the office and the company’s first charity ball. Colleagues also got their running shoes on for the charity, taking part in the Leeds 10K and Yorkshire Marathon.
Shulmans also held ‘Wise Up To Cancer’ health checks for employees, delivered as part of Yorkshire Cancer Research’s new community health programme. The programme is aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and raising awareness of signs and symptoms and the importance of taking part in the national screening programmes for breast, bowel and cervical cancer.
Joanna Oakes, residential development paralegal at Shulmans, said: “We have an active CSR team at Shulmans and have really enjoyed working with the Yorkshire Cancer Research team and taking part in many enjoyable fundraising events. We felt proud to help contribute towards the charity’s dedicated research, which aims to help people in the region who suffer from cancer and reduce the numbers in the future.”
Stephanie Jones, corporate fundraiser at Yorkshire Cancer Research, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to all the staff at Shulmans, and especially the CSR team, for being so supportive and putting so much effort into their fundraising for the charity.
“They were incredibly engaged with the work of the charity and were the first company to introduce our new health checks, which helped to bring home our aim to improve the prevention and early detection of cancer.”
