Valeos Ltd managing director, David Ross, has been appointed president of the Insurance Institute of Leeds (IIL) at its AGM.
One of the country’s oldest professional institutes, the IIL was established in 1888 to champion education and professionalism in the industry.
Affiliated to the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), it continues to provide continuous professional development to members in Leeds and surrounding areas, as well as networking opportunities and fundraising social events.
David Ross said: “I have enjoyed working with the Institute at the local level over many years and now intend to strengthen the bonds within the Leeds insurance family by bringing more members together regularly. Developing the IIL by promoting it to prospective members will also be a priority.
“In addition, we will be looking at fresh ways to boost our support for local charities and communities.”
David was also recently appointed to the national board of the CII for a minimum three-year term. He has held a number of director positions over the past 16 years and has achieved the Diploma in Company Direction (by examination) which is awarded by The Institute of Directors as recognition of an individual’s ability to operate effectively at board level.
